Jason manages the SIEL and heads SUERC's Stable Isotope Lab as a whole. His original background is geology (Aberdeen) and planetary sciences where he specialised in stable isotope methods (Open University, MNHN Paris, Tokyo) and has managed stable isotope laboratories at the Universities of Vienna and California, Santa Cruz. Since arriving at SUERC in 2002 he has migrated into stable isotope ecology. 

Rona runs many of the projects at the SIEL. Her background is also in geology (Edinburgh and then Glasgow) then lectured at Sunderland with further stable and radiogenic isotope research in earth sciences and archaeology at Bradford and BGS. She arrived at SUERC in 2002.
